Patti Brazill

Economics

Patti Brazill has been teaching AP®economics, both macro and micro, for the past twenty years at Irondequoit High School in Western New York. She came to teaching after a brief career as a mortgage-backed securities broker on Wall Street, and a somewhat longer career as a stay-at –home mom. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the State University of New York and her Master’s degree in Public Policy from New York University. After working for two years as a para-professional in special education, Patti received her teaching certification from Nazareth College in 1995. She has embraced the opportunity offered to her and built her AP®economics course from a one-semester course covering both micro and macro with an enrollment of about 20 students, to a full-year course with an enrollment of well over 100 students. Her students have consistently scored above the national average.

Patti has been an exam reader for the AP®Economics exam for the past ten years, a table leader for five, and has been a presenter at the National AP®College Board Conference. Patti is currently the College Board Advisor to the Macroeconomics test development committee for the College Board.

Patti lives with her husband, Roger, in a Rochester suburb. They have 2 daughters, Caitlyn, who also has a master’s degree in Public Policy from NYU and lives and works in New York, and Julia, who lives and works in Portland, OR. When not grading papers, Patti enjoys travel, biking, sailing and quilting and playing with her grandchildren!
